On August 30th, 2024, the San Juan Hills High School faced off against Roosevelt High School. This anticipated matchup, whose last game ending in a 37-31 victory for Roosevelt, proved that anything can happen. The game, held at San Juan Hills, saw the SJHHS Stallions deliver an absolutely stomping performance, capturing a 38-3 victory over the Roosevelt Mustangs.
The Stallions set their dominant tone early, capitalizing on the Mustangs’ mistakes and miscues. The Stallions stifled Roosevelt’s offense to just a field goal over the course of the whole game.
Game Winning Team: The Stallions took immediate control over the game from the get-go, with their defense forcing turnovers and their offense efficiently moving the ball down field and finding the end zone. The defense of the Stallions was relentless, forcing multiple turnovers, interceptions, and sacks. Key defensive players include Will Port, with 7 total tackles, Mason Porter with 1.5 sacks, and Tyler Dawson with a crucial interception.
Luke Frith: Sophomore Luke Frith had an amazing game. The quarterback led the Stallions’ offense with 134 yards and four touchdowns on only 10 passes, as well as picking up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns. By halftime, the Stallions had a 24-3 lead.
Next matchups: The SJHHS Stallions will hope to build on their momentum against Tesoro High School on September 6th. On the flip side, the Roosevelt Mustangs will look to forget this game and bounce back in their upcoming game against Norco High School on September 6th.
