Sierra Canyon wasted no time making a statement Friday night, rolling past Orange Lutheran in a convincing 41–9 victory.
Orange Lutheran struck first after an interception set them up deep in Trailblazers territory, but the Lancers were held to a short field goal. From there, it was all Sierra Canyon. Quarterback Laird Finkel quickly answered with a touchdown pass to put the Trailblazers ahead, and moments later he connected again inside the red zone to extend the lead to 14–3.
Special teams added to the momentum when Havon Finney Jr. broke loose for a 65-yard punt return touchdown, giving Sierra Canyon a commanding 20–3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Running back Jaxsen Stokes carried the load from there, punching in multiple rushing scores, including a 16-yard burst in the second quarter and two more short-yardage touchdowns in the third.
Orange Lutheran’s lone highlight came late in the first half on a blocked punt return for a touchdown, but they struggled to generate offense the rest of the way. The Lancers cycled through quarterbacks and were hurt by turnovers, including two interceptions, while Sierra Canyon’s defense continued to clamp down.
By halftime, the Trailblazers had built a 27–9 lead, and they never looked back, cruising through the second half with a balanced attack and suffocating defense.
With the win, Sierra Canyon once again proved why they’re one of the top programs in the region, showing explosive playmaking on offense, dominance on special teams, and discipline on defense.
