Last night, Jserra concluded their undefeated season by winning the CIF Open Division Title. The Jserra Lions would go on to get the win over Loyola Saliors. Despite the win, they wouldn’t get the win that easy.

In the first half, Jserra would show continued dominance as they would keep the pressure on Loyola. Even with much pressure from the offense, Loyola’s defense pushed through as they kept the score 0-0. However, after the break, things came alive. Jserra’s senior captain Gavin Allegaert helped Jserra by scoring the night’s first goal. The Lions set the tone and stopped any goals Loyola attempted. Jake Tatch helped Finn Williams score another goal a few moments later. The Lions now led 2-0. Loyola desperately tried to come back but failed to do so. The game ended with Jserra winning 2-0.

After the game, I got to speak with Gavin Allegrant about what this win meant to him and his team. He stated, “This means a lot to us because there’s a lot of seniors on the team, so it’s a great way to end. But this was just another stepping stone to being first in the state because that’s our main goal. We won Trinity League, and now we won CIF. Now we’re going for the state, and if everything goes according to plan, we’ll be #1.” The job isn’t finished, as Jserra will play in the state regionals. Their first opponent is undetermined as of right now. However, they will be playing this Tuesday at 5 pm, you don’t want to miss out!
