Grossmont, CA — Citrus College Football displayed an offensive masterclass on Saturday, overpowering Grossmont College 48-13 on the road. The Owls’ dynamic rushing attack and explosive plays highlighted a game that was largely decided by halftime.
The Owls struck first in the opening quarter with running back Hakim Haliburto breaking through for a 20-yard touchdown run, capping off an efficient 9-play, 88-yard drive. Lucas “Mau” Froemel‘s extra point gave Citrus an early 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Citrus’ offense exploded, racking up four more touchdowns. Jamahl Wilson powered through Grossmont’s defense with a 4-yard run early in the quarter, followed by an electrifying 98-yard touchdown sprint less than four minutes later, leaving the Griffins’ defense stunned. Wilson finished with 173 rushing yards on just nine carries, dominating the ground game.
Wilson wasn’t the only Owl finding the end zone, as Haliburto added another score with an 11-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 28-0. The Griffins managed to respond with a 4-yard touchdown run by Jaden Green, but Citrus answered back quickly. Quarterback Tobin O’Dell found Brayden Austin on a 40-yard strike, and although the extra point attempt failed, Citrus headed into halftime with a commanding 34-7 lead.
Citrus picked up where they left off in the third quarter, as O’Dell connected with Wilson for a 52-yard touchdown pass on a 67-yard drive. Backup quarterback Koy Riggin also got in on the action, throwing an 11-yard touchdown pass to Sean Persson, widening the gap to 48-7.
Grossmont found the end zone one more time in the fourth quarter, with quarterback Matt Barton scoring on a 7-yard run, but their two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the final score at 48-13.
Citrus controlled the game on both sides of the ball, outgaining Grossmont with 518 yards of total offense compared to the Griffins’ 280. The Owls dominated on the ground with 355 rushing yards, while Grossmont struggled to contain Citrus’ offensive firepower.
Grossmont’s defense was unable to apply pressure, with no sacks on the day, while Citrus recorded three, including two from Dominic Rausch. On the defensive end, Ryder Cadam added an interception to Citrus’ strong showing.
With this dominant victory, Citrus improves their season record while Grossmont continues to search for consistency on both sides of the ball.
