Are the Eagles the most electric team in the Trinity League right now? I attended both their college showcase and the spring game hosted at Santa Margarita High School and this is my take.
Right off the bat, the Eagles receiving core is out to prove why they might be one of, if not the best, in the Trinity league. Consisting of Trent Mosley, Jonah Smith, and Sean Embree, this core is something you must keep your eyes out for due to their constant amount of high-level talent demonstrated every time they step on the field.
Led by current Trinity League MVP Trent Mosley(2026) this stand-out receiver has shown the high school scene he just might be “That guy”. Coming off an impressive season with 1,555 total yards as well as 26 TDS with 1,285 and 11 of those touchdowns being on the receiving side has impressed many for his sophomore campaign. Mosley is also a dual threat out of the backfield, picking up 270 yards with 15 touchdowns on 48 carries. He is bound to have an electrifying junior season.
Four Star Jonah Smith UCLA commit is another Class of 2026 ATH transferring from Mater Dei and coming off a highlight reel of an offseason playing for the Trillion Boys in the 7s circuit. What really threw him into the spotlight was his multiple touchdown performances at OT7 which I was also able to witness firsthand. He excels in being able to track down the deep ball as well as to reposition to make catches that make you starstruck.
This high-flying offense has Class of 2025 three-star John Gazzaniga at the helm. Standing at 6’7” 230 pounds John has a dominant frame which allows him to play well under pressure and get the ball out to his many weapons. During the offseason, he played with California Power showing precision and power throwing to some of the top athletes in the country.
Some threats on both sides of the line that excelled in the past week are Joseph Terry, Elijah Vaikona, and Jacob Maiava. Joseph Terry Class of 2026 picked up two more offers after showing out at the showcase from San Jose State and Colorado State. Jacob Maiava committed to Southern Methodist University, he is looking to have a big senior season as one of the important pieces in the Eagles offensive line. Elijah Vaikona currently holds 10 offers and is a beast standing at 6’7” 340 he will prove to be a staple in the offensive line in his senior season.
If the Eagles can put all these pieces together they can be a real threat to look out for in the upcoming season. The Eagles campaign starts August 24th at Mission Viejo which will be an action-packed game full of talent that will be covered by Talent Sports Network as well.
